There are several different distinctive Native cultures that developed over many centuries in Northern Coastal California along the coast and rivers in this biologically generous part of the world. Three major language groups existed within a few miles of each other, though the different peoples had a ceremonial life that was and still is shared across the different peoples.
These distinctive cultures continue to exist and thrive, as demonstrated by a vibrant ceremonial dance life, music, and art.
Some ceremonial dances are open to the general public such as the dance in early Summer at Patricks Point State Park while most are private religious ceremonies.
